ソフトウェア品質の評価と追跡を専門とするオランダのTIOBEソフトウェアが毎月発表する「TIOBEプログラミングコミュニティーインデックス」（通称「TIOBEインデックス」）。
このTIOBEインデックスからは、それぞれのプログラミング言語がどれだけ話題になっているかがわかりますが、2024年8月のデータは以下の通り。

PythonがJavaのTIOBE Indexの記録を追う
今月、Pythonは史上初めて18％以上のレーティングを記録しました。前回18％以上を記録したプログラミング言語は、2016年11月のJavaでした。また、Javaは2001年6月の26.49％という過去最高のレーティングを記録したプログラミング言語でもあります。次点のC++は現在、Pythonにちょうど8％遅れており、1位と2位のこの差もほぼ記録的です。過去最高の1位と2位の差は、2016年11月にJavaがCを9.55％上回っていました。まとめると、Pythonの覇権はもはや否定できないものとなっています。おそらく、Pythonが次に目指すのは、史上最も人気のあるプログラミング言語になることでしょう。近いうちにPythonに迫ると予想される新しいプログラミング言語はあるのでしょうか？可能性のある候補であるRustとKotlinは、TIOBE Indexのトップ10に急速に近づいていますが、Pythonの本当の脅威になるまでには、かなりの時間がかかるでしょう。

August Headline: Python is chasing Java’s TIOBE index records
This month, Python has a ranking of more than 18% for the first time in its history. The last time a language hit more than 18% was Java in November 2016. Java is also the language with the highest ranking ever: 26.49% in June 2001. Runner up C++ is now exactly 8% behind Python, and that difference between position #1 and position #2 is also almost a record. The highest difference ever between position #1 and position #2 was in November 2016 when Java was 9.55% ahead of C. In summary, Python’s hegemony is now undeniable. It is likely that it is Python’s next step to become the most popular programming language ever. Is there any new language expected to come close to Python soon?
